Here at Juniper Haven we raise white & colored Wensleydale sheep. We're working towards purebred animals by participating in the Wensleydale Upgrade program (for info, see
www.wensleydalesheep.org/).
Our flock is enrolled in the federal 'Scrapie Flock Certification Program', and the new federal 'Export Monitored Program.' We have high standards for flock health and biosecurity.
Juniper Haven's white and colored fleeces have won many ribbons in local shows and are available year-round.
November 2009: We have registered Wensleydale high-percentage ewes and rams available now. The adult ewes are proven mothers, producing twins and triplets. We also have some yearling 87% Wensleydale rams, and 93% ram lambs.
The Wensleydale is the largest native British breed and is known as a premier fleece improver. The breed is noted for its crossing potential, and is truly dual purpose, yielding large, lean meat lambs as well. Wensleydales produce the most valuable luster longwool fleece in the world.
