The fleeces are here!! Pictures will follow as I have time, but the complete listing of fleeces for sale is now available. Thanks for all who have kept checking!
In early February, my flock was hit by 2 cougars; an adult female and her yearling cub learning to hunt. In one night, I lost 17 ewes - half of the late lambing ewes, and 1/4 of the total flock. Some of the fleeces listed are the last of their kind :-(
I have had generous offers from many members of Oregon Wool Growers Association to help me rebuild my flock, which I have accepted. It's really interesting dealing with this kind of loss - the mass loss is easy to talk about; the individuals are most painful. The loss of their personalities, their contributions to the flock is incalculable. The healing process has begun. I brought the llamas, who were in as guards, home. They were quite traumatized by the whole experience, though unhurt. All of the surviving ewes have broken their fleeces; I'll shear them again, and shear late (for me) next year to maximize their fleece growth.
Thanks to all who have purchased fleeces - I appreciate your comments!
Thanks for your interest!
