About Membership
To qualify for farm membership your farm must be in
Oregon, you must direct-market
your
farm goods, and you must raise one of the following fiber animals:
wool or dual-purpose sheep
breed, fiber goat, angora rabbit, alpaca, or llama.
Fiber Partners must operate a fiber related business
in Oregon that
uses some
Oregon fiber. Membership is granted at the discretion of the
OWGA board with a probationary period
of six months. Fiber Partners retain their
membership at the discretion of the OWGA
board.
Our term of membership runs from July
1 to June 30, Farm membership costs $40/year,
and is not prorated. Fiber Partner membership costs
$70/year, and is not prorated.
Each farm member receives one vote at the annual
meeting and anyone from that
farm
may proxy for the rest of the members of that farm. Our annual
meeting is held each June on Sunday
of the Black Sheep Gathering in
Eugene. Fiber Partners are nonvoting members.
Every paid member may add products and farm or
business information to this website. The
website rules are listed below. In addition we can
currently offer an email
address to members needing one.
How To Join
Then print, fill out and sign the form.
Mail along with your membership fee to the address listed on the form. Please
write the check to OWGA.
OregonWool.com rules &
information
Each new member pays a
one-time setup fee of $70. This means farm members' first
check should be written to OWGA for
$100. Fiber Partners' first check should
be written to OWGA for $120. Subsequent years you
will be
charged only the
annual membership fee. The setup fee goes to site
construction, update, maintenance, and/or
advertising.
We'll send you a password
once your membership and setup fees are paid.
You may then load your farm, business, and product information.
This site
is member friendly.
You needn't go through the organization or the webdesigner
to load or edit your farm or business
material, including photos. All your
editing can be done directly in any web browser on any
computer that is connected
to
the internet. All you need is your password.
Photos
These work best if
they are taken with a digital camera. We do have a member
who is a professional photographer
who will happily negotiate a photo
package for your farm and products (for a fee) should you not
be able
to provide photos
yourself. You can include up to five photos for your
farm page, and you can change these as often
as you wish. In addition,
you
are encouraged to include a photograph of each product you list.
Each product will have a
detail window in which this photo will appear.
All photos you provide for your farm or your products
will be displayed
at 300 pixels
in width. For best results, you are encouraged to make
them 300 pixels wide before uploading
(transfering) them to the
website. However, any picture that is 800 pixels wide or less
will be
automatically resized
by the website when it is uploaded. If you have
questions about this, please contact us.
Products
You may list all your farm products in the general
description of your
farm, and you
may include a link to your individual farm website.
However, please list only products from or
about your fiber animals on
the
Product List. We encourage Fiber Partners to especially list those
items with Oregon fiber in
them. Fiber Partners may not advertise wool
processing. If you have questions about this or wish
to petition
an exception, please
contact us. We will remove products from the site
that do not qualify. Farm Member products are
given priority on the Products
Page. Fiber Partner products rotate below those of the Farm
Members.
Calendar
Please feel free to add your farm or fiber partner
events to the calendar or local
events related to fiber animals or their products. Fiber arts
shows,
sheep shows, farmers markets
that include fiber animal products, etc.
Breeds
Send us breed
information and or links if you don't see your breed listed on the
breed page.
Links
Send us links you think we
should include on our links page. Also, tell
us about sites where we should be listed on the links
page.
Comments &
Participation
We have no paid staff. The
farms listed on this site do all of the
work. Please participate by attending our annual
meeting, suggesting
ways to
improve the site, helping out with advertising and promotion,
being on the board, and giving
feedback about how the site is working
for your farm.
